Outdoors puzzle time … can you find the hidden bird species?

puzzy

Because we can’t always be in the outdoors — as sad as that truly is — it doesn’t mean that our “indoor” time can’t still have an outdoors flavor.

So I took a few moments to create this outdoors puzzle with a birdy theme. Below are 20 birds that can be found in the state of Pennsylvania. Unscramble the names and then find them in the word search grid above. Once you are done, use the remaining unused letters from the grid to unscramble the final answer — the name of another bird that can be found in the Keystone State.

Let’s see who can get the answer first … the puzzle is also being published on The Daily Item newspaper’s Sunday outdoors page with the same challenge.

The 20 bird species to unscramble:

OILROE
WIXGNAW
ROSA
NOLO
HEATSNAP
SLOWLAW
PINES
ACNER
DIALNARC
SUGERO
THUNCHAT
HOKSWAG
NAWS
BOSKGEAR
NORIB
ODOCKCOW
HECKADICE
YOPERS
WORC
GLADEBALE

Good luck!
